The Different Hairs:

I'll try to make this a brief write up on the use of hair on flies, it's quite boring and most people don't wanna listen. So I'll list first and discuss later. please contact me if you would like to see somthing on this page or have a comment.

Antelope    
body spinning Extremely buoyant, very fragile and brittle
Bear    
body traditional hair wings The crinkle gives a full look with out to much material having to be used.
Calf more about it  
body para's, hair wing dries Shorter and straighter the tail
tail para's, hair wing dries, small streamers Stacks well, crinkle gives fuller look with less materials
Caribou more about it  
body spinning small dries, long wet fly wings Very fine, has great action and makes great hair wings.
Elk more about it  
mane tails, some wet wings Super fine hairs that are long, nearly solid
rump ?? Kinda course, flare is moderate
hock super tiny caddis A stiff hair.
bull good for large wings  
cow Caddis, Caddis & Caddis A full flare and it spins great.
yearling Another small pattern hair Good for very detailed work with smaller patterns
Deer more about it  
mask tails Very stiff but creates no flare
rump spinning The best for the large patterns
belly spinning  
tail hair wings, tails Find the solid portions of hair on the tail for the best wings and action.
back every thing This part of the deer deserves a page itself, the best thing I can tell you is more coarse the more flare the finer the less flare

Polar Bear

body anything that needs flare The most flaring of all the hairs, one wrap and it's all over.

tail traditional wet flies Hard to fix on a hook, demand practice and patients from the tier
body streamers, nymphs Cut into strips to use, as little zonker or create dubbing brush with it.
Yak    
body mostly salt streamers Some what translucent, great for large streamers
